Database Set up

If you are using Client Access for iSeries V4R5 or lower, click here for alternate instructions.

ECS/integrated email requires an ODBC driver configured to enable client/server connectivity. A Client Access 32bit ODBC driver named "ECSIE" needs to be configured on each PC/Client with ECS/integrated email installed:

Click "Start", select "Settings", "Control Panel" then "Administrative Tools" .
Select the "Data Sources(ODBC)" icon
Select the "System DSN" Tab
Click "Add" to add a new Data Source
Select the data source "Client Access ODBC (32bit)" or "iSeries Access ODBC Driver"

Click "Finish"

Note: If the Client Access ODBC Driver option is not available on your system then you need to install the Client Access Data Access components and restart this exercise.

Enter the Data Source name "ECSIE" and select the relevant AS/400 System Name:

Select the "Server" tab, enter the ECS/integrated email library as the "SQL default library" as shown:

Click the "Advanced" command button.
Change "Commit Mode" to "Commit Immediate (*NONE)", as shown below.
Click "OK"

Select the "Translation" tab, select the option to "Convert binary data (CCSID 65535) to text"

Select "OK" and the ODBC Data source is now configured.
